BK residents flooded with rising water bills
Residents across the borough say they're drowning in high water bills, and are taking their argument to the steps of City Hall. Workers began installing new automated meter readers in 2009, allegedly leading to a slue of inaccurate measurements. Brooklyn Councilman David Greenfield (D-44th District) says some people living in his district have experienced up to a 500 percent increase in water payments. City officials say readings are more accurate than ever, and the number of bill disputes has stagnated since the system was introduced.
