Roads slick as wintry mix makes its way across BK

Brooklyn residents woke up this morning to slick roads, but not much in the way of snow accumulations.

Although there is no more than a dusting of snow across most of the borough, drivers are advised to use caution due to slippery conditions that are likely to get worse as temperatures begin to drop. Pedestrians should also watch out for slick sidewalks.

Sanitation trucks are standing by in Sunset Park and Park Slope, ready to salt the streets in case snowflakes do start to stick to the ground. The Department of Sanitation says it has issued a snow alert, and it is preparing for several inches of snow, mostly on grassy and unpaved surfaces.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says it began storm preparations a few days ago, and it expects to run normal service after cancelling almost all of the panned service changes in an effort to make commuting easier.
