Hate graffiti targeting Muslims found in Kensington
Police say hateful graffiti targeting Muslims was found scrawled outside of an insurance company in Kensington.
Abu Chowdhury, the co-owner of TDS Insurance on Beverly Road, says he came to work Monday morning to discover the words "Allah is s---" written in bold black letters with a permanent marker on the wall of his business. The offensive graffiti has since been removed by the NYPD's hate crime unit.
Chowdhury, a native of Bangladesh, says in his 22 years in Kensington, he has never seen anything like this.
Police say they are investigating the incident, which they had classified as criminal mischief.
Meanwhile, neighbors are holding a vigil this evening to send a message to the perpetrators that hate crimes like this one will not be tolerated.
