NYPD: Death of Bed-Stuy toddler ruled a homicide

Police say the death of a toddler last month in Bedford-Stuyvesant has been ruled a homicide. Police say they found the girl Jan. 6 at 1078 Putnam Ave. They say she was lying in the arms of her mother, who was apparently babbling and incoherent when detectives arrived. Surveillance video taken from a nearby restaurant shows the woman holding the girl shortly before she died. The medical examiner says the child was suffocated. No arrests have been made.BK police continue to investigate girl's death
