Suspect in NYPD officer shooting indicted

The man accused of shooting a police officer last week in Bushwick was charged with attempted murder in the first degree at a hearing today.

Brooklyn's district attorney announced the indictment against Luis Ortiz, 21.

According to police, Ortiz shot NYPD officer Kevin Brennan in the head last week when police responded to a call of shots fired at the Bushwick Houses. Brennan is currently recovering at Bellevue Hospital.

Ortiz faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
