More than 150 Muslims and interfaith leaders came together today for a march to police headquarters in Manhattan to protest mosque surveillance.
Protesters who flooded the streets of Lower Manhattan were outraged after the Associated Press' revelation that police surveillance targeted thousands of Shiite Muslims and their places of worship.
According to the AP, the increased surveillance was done solely based on religion as a way to sweep the Northeast for signs of Iranian terrorists.
Today's march and rally come on the heels of outrage in Muslim communities over a video called the Third Jihad, which had been shown during anti-terrorism training.
Although Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says he never gave formal approval to show the film, protesters once again called on Kelly and NYPD spokesperson Paul Browne to resign.
