A senior citizen is facing manslaughter charges after allegedly striking and killing a cyclist in Bensonhurst last night.
According to police, the 82-year-old driver, Guy Saladino, rear-ended an empty bus with his Mercedes at 18th Avenue and 73rd Street. They say he then took off and struck a Chinese food deliveryman on a bicycle.
Investigators say Saladino didn't stop until he slammed into parked cars across the intersection. The 62-year-old cyclist was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Saladino, a local businessman, was treated at Lutheran Hospital and is now in custody.
