Prospect Park activists: Something fishy with anglers
Community activists in Prospect Park say anglers are illegally fishing in the borough's only fresh water lake. Current catch-and-release laws require all fish to be returned to the water once hooked, but some fishermen say people often ignore the rules. Anthony Coniglario, a licensed fisherman, says the fish are occasionally hidden in bags and taken home. Local watchdog groups say banned hooks and buckets have been found near the lake, and that most illegal fishing happens in the early morning hours.
