School safety agent awaits arraignment for drug possession

An off-duty school safety agent is awaiting arraignment after being caught with marijuana over the weekend.

According to police, 45-year-old Barbara Smith was arrested at Nostrand Avenue and St. Marks Place Saturday morning. They say she works in the 77th Precinct, but have not specified which school.

Cops say the arrest is not school related and did not happen on school grounds.

Smith is being charged with criminal possession of marijuana and has been suspended without pay.
