DOE: Teachers, aides guilty of misconduct not properly disciplined
The Department of Education (DOE) has released the names of eight teachers and school aides who it says were not adequately disciplined for their alleged misconduct with students.
Officials say Christopher Azzopart, a teacher at P.S. 285 on Beverly Road in Brooklyn, is among those school workers. They say he was found guilty of misconduct and reassigned.
Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott says he plans to have all the teachers fired, but so far only the aides have been let go. He also wants to change the teacher tracking system, despite disapproval from the union because of tenure rights.
