Bed-Stuy family raises money for 8-year-old with cancer
The family of a Bed-Stuy 8-year-old says they're working day and night to raise money for an experimental treatment that could save his life.
First-grader Josia Cotto is battling a rare brain tumor, which doctors say is too dangerous to operate on. With chemotherapy and radiation alone, the young boy has a 6-percent chance of survival after five years.
Cotto's loved ones say they're using a blog campaign to raise more than $100,000 for alternative treatments not covered by their insurance. So far, they've managed to get about $38,000.
