BK principal pulls double-duty teaching students
A Brooklyn principal is taking time out of his day running Bedford Academy to teach students at the school.
Principal Adolfo Muhammed teaches three classes at the Bedford-Stuyvesant high school.
Muhammed says principals sometimes develop an ivory tower syndrome, but he believes "the classroom is really the ground floor of the work good schools do."
Students like senior Tyler Johnson say they have a greater respect for the principal because of the teaching he does.
"He makes decisions on what's best for the students and he's basing those decisions on what he sees inside the classroom," says Johnson.
Muhammed says the school is going pretty well, boasting a graduation rate of more than 95 percent.
