Historic expansion proposed to preserve Park Slope
The city's Landmark Preservation Commission is looking to expand on the Park Slope Historic District.
The proposal would include the blocks between 7th and 16th streets, including both sides of 7th and 8th avenues. If approved, more than 580 properties would be added to the district.
Many residents say they support the idea because it would prevent anyone from changing the quaint look and feel of their neighborhood. However, some homeowners don't want to get special permits before they can alter anything on the outside of their houses.
The commission will vote on the proposal April 17.
