Mayor Michael Bloomberg is touting the success of the city's letter grading system for eateries.
According to the mayor, foodborne illnesses, including salmonella, have dropped since Department of Health inspectors began placing a sanitary rating outside all restaurants nearly two years ago.
Health officials say 72 percent of businesses have earned an "A" grade, which is up from 65 percent last year.
