The fight to keep struggling schools open is heating up as the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) files a lawsuit against the city.
The union has subpoenaed former schools Chancellor Joel Klein and 11 Department of Education (DOE) officials to testify about the proposed closure of 19 schools throughout the city.
Teachers argue the DOE failed to provide promised resources to the schools, which in turn forced them onto the chopping block.
