SUV plunges off Bronx River Parkway, killing 7
? The NYPD says a SUV plunged off the Bronx River Parkway near the Bronx Zoo, killing seven people, including three children this afternoon.
Officials have identified those killed as a married couple, Jacob Nunez, 85, and Ana Julia Martinez, 81, their daughters Maria Gonzalez, 45, and Maria Nunez, 39, Gonzalez?s daughter, Jocelyn Gonzalez, 10, and Nunez?s daughters, Niely Rosario, 7, and Marly Rosario, 3.
Investigators say that everyone in the car was traveling through The Bronx to see relatives and that Maria Gonzalez was driving at the time of the accident.
Police say the Honda Pilot SUV was headed south Sunday at around 12:30 p.m. on the parkway when it bounced off the median, crossed all southbound lanes over to the guardrail and fell more than 50 feet into a ravine.
Investigators are looking into what caused the SUV to lose control and crash down the ravine but say that no criminality is suspected.
