BK residents drop off unwanted drugs for Drug Take-Back Day
Brooklyn residents took advantage of the fourth annual Drug Take-Back Day to drop off any unwanted or unused prescription pills they had in their homes.
The nationwide program was hosted by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
DEA Special Agent Wilbert Plummer says at the last event, held in October, more than 377,000 pounds of prescription drugs were collected.
Officials say that prescription drug abuse is now the number two problem for teenagers in America.
The DEA says it will be holding another drug take back event in a few months.
