Bed-Stuy district caters to seniors' needs
Getting older in Bed-Stuy is getting a bit easier. Local community groups recently unveiled Brooklyn's first aging improvement district in Bed-Stuy. The district creates new programs that cater to Bed-Stuy's booming senior population, which organizers say will surpass the school-aged children population in just a few years. The district's suggested incentives for seniors range from special pool hours to improved banking to computer training. Some people living at Quincy Senior Residences are already taking advantage of the new district by taking a computer literacy course.
