A wake for Lt. Richard Nappi is being held at Maloney's Funeral Home in Long Island tonight where the 47-year-old lived with his wife and two children. A bunting for Nappi was already hung by three of his closest comrades at Engine 237 in Brooklyn during a special ceremony Tuesday.
Nappi died earlier this week after he overheated and collapsed from exhaustion while battling flames at a Bushwick warehouse. The lieutenant was a 10-year FDNY veteran and a first responder during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A second wake will be held Friday afternoon and Nappi will finally be laid to rest following a funeral Mass and procession Saturday morning.
