Marine Park residents call for end to stalled construction project
Some Brooklyn residents are calling for an end to a construction project in Marine Park that they say has been delayed for far too long.
According to News 12 Brooklyn viewers, park construction has been ongoing for years and came to a screeching halt nearly a year ago. They say they were promised a senior center or community center and just want something useful to be completed soon.
In a statement, the city Parks Department said, "Completion of the Marine Park Community Center was delayed when a subcontractor defaulted, forcing us to find others to complete their work and slowing overall progress. We expect substantial work to begin shortly, and we fully anticipate the project to be complete in the fall/winter of 2012."
