Man charged in shootings of NYPD officers during hostage situation
Police have formally charged 33-year-old Nakwon Foxworth in the shootings of four NYPD officers.
Authorities say Foxworth, armed with a gun, barricaded himself inside his Nostrand Avenue apartment Saturday with his pregnant girlfriend and their baby. After his girlfriend was able to escape with the child, police entered and Foxworth allegedly fired at the officers.
The four officers were struck before Foxworth was shot in the stomach.
Two of the police officers have been released from the hospital, and all four are expected to recover. Foxworth remains hospitalized and faces a number of charges, including attempted murder and assault on a police officer.
