14 indicted in Crown Heights gang bust
Fourteen reputed gang members from the Crown Heights group known as the Brower Park Gang have been indicted for their alleged roles in a string of burglaries.
According to Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes, the 14 teenagers would climb fire escapes to rob apartments of laptops and other electronics, which they would then sell in bodegas. Hynes says in one instance, four of them tied up a man and woman while robbing their apartment, and then sexually assaulted the woman while she was tied up.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says police were tipped off because some of the suspects would brag about their crimes on Facebook.
