Elected officials and local groups have introduced a neighborhood protection plan, hoping to address concerns about safety and traffic in the area when the Barclays Center opens in September.

The nine-point plan will ensure that emergency personnel will be able to navigate streets on game days. They are also asking the developer, Forest City Ratner, to manage traffic flow in the area during arena events. According to Councilwoman Letitia James (35th District), 10,000 additional cars are expected in the area during events.
