Parks Dept. keeping an eye out for violations
Brooklyn residents are being warned to follow the rules posted at local parks and beaches, or risk a pricey fine.
The city Parks Department is on patrol in outdoor areas, including Prospect Park. Officials are reminding everyone that barbecuing is only allowed in certain areas and that people will be instructed to move if they set up shop in a restricted area.
Smoking and fireworks are also strictly prohibited. The parks commissioner says the rules aren't meant to spoil the fun, but are put in place to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time outdoors.
