New ferry landing comes to Brooklyn Bridge Park
A new landing for the East River Ferry service is now open in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn announced system-wide upgrades to the ferry service today. They say larger ships, which can hold more passengers, will operate on summer weekends. The new landing will accommodate the larger vessels and has two slips in hopes of eliminating service delays and traffic bottlenecks. The popular concession service onboard has also been expanded to offer a wider variety during all operating hours.
