New pedestrian plazas in Fort Greene have received some negative reviews from local residents and business owners.

Residents that live nearby say that the plazas disrupt traffic with regard to cars on South Elliot Place being forced to turn on Lafayette Avenue as well as a number of parking problems.

Similar concerns have been felt by residents near Putnam Plaza on Fulton Street. Neighbors say that traffic is a problem, and one business owner says he's lost customers.

There have been community meetings with the Department of Transportation and the Fulton Area Business Alliance to address issues with both plazas, but some neighbors say their concerns are not being heard.

A representative from the Fulton Area Business Alliance says the pedestrian plazas are helping revitalize the area and that they are bringing more investments into the neighborhood.
