P.S. 103 chess team honored after winning championship
Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz congratulated 20 students from P.S. 103 this morning for winning the United Chess Federation's Scholastic Championship.
With the help of the local community, staff members, businesses, Chess-in-the-Schools and the PTA, the school was able to raise $12,000 to allow the kids to play at the event.
After seven grueling rounds lasting 3 to 4 hours over three days, the team finally outdistanced the first-place team and became the champions of the K-6 Under 1000 section.
