Police: Brooklyn designer arrested for planting fake bombs
A Brooklyn designer has been arrested Saturday for allegedly planting fake bombs in plastic bags around Brooklyn.
Authorities say the fake bombs were put in "I Heart New York" plastic shopping bags on Friday around Manhattan, Greenpoint and Williamsburg.
The bags were designed as artwork by 50-year-old Takeshi Miyakawa and are part of New York Design Week 2012.
Police confiscated all but one of the bags and are holding the designer for a monthlong mental evaluation.
Miyakawa is accused of multiple crimes, including supporting acts of terrorism and reckless endangerment.
