Bed-Stuy bakery whips up recovery bars for city bike tour

A Bed-Stuy bakery is whipping up unique recovery bars for the Five Boro Bike Tour this weekend.

Staffed with volunteers earning a free culinary education, Scratch Bread's natural treats are made with eggs, almonds and chocolate, but owner Matthew Tilden says the special ingredient is actually Parmigiano-Reggiano.

The shop will be baking about 20,000 of the cheesy snacks as cyclists gear up for the big event.
