Summer scorcher: Soaring temps shatter city records

Records were shattered throughout the city Thursday as temperatures soared near the triple digits during a second day of grueling heat.

News 12 Meteorologist Mike Favetta has a breakdown of the cooling off period that's expected to set in midday Friday as storms approach the region with the potential for high winds and heavy downpours.

A heat advisory remains in effect until Friday at 7 p.m., but it may be removed sooner.
