Parents protest potential day care cuts in Williamsburg
Parents, day care providers and elected officials rallied today to stop the potential city budget cuts that could shutter five day care centers in Williamsburg.
The outraged parents accuse Mayor Michael Bloomberg of trying to balance the budget on their children's future. Many parents say they will not be able to work without an affordable place to leave their children during the day.
Bloomberg says the demands are weighing heavily on the city and that not everyone can get what they want.
The City Council will vote on the mayor's proposed budget on June 30.
