Hundreds storm Borough Hall over proposed child care cuts
Hundreds of protesters stormed the steps of Borough Hall Tuesday to take a stand against proposed funding cuts for child care and after-school programs.
Parents, children and advocates argue that more than 15,000 child care and 36,000 after-school programs will be eliminated throughout the city if $170 million in cuts is not restored to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's budget plan.
The mayor says he's working with the City Council to come up with a resolution during this difficult economic time. His final budget is due July 1.
