G line temporarily shut down after rails flood
Some Brooklyn straphangers were stranded today as the G line was completely shut down for several hours.
The MTA says the line was shut down after water flooded the tracks. The flooding was caused by a malfunctioning pump that failed to remove the water when it began raining earlier today.
Officials say that whenever the rails are flooded like that, they have to shut down service in order to prevent power outages on the trains.
The service was suspended between the Bedford-Nostrand station and the Church Avenue station from 11:30 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
