P.S. K 721 students donate wheelchair-accessible canoe
Students at a special education high school in Coney Island have made a big donation to the Salt Marsh Nature Center in Marine Park.
P.S. K 721 donated a canoe especially made for people in wheelchairs or who have balance issues. The canoe comes with extra support and additional safety measures.
The students worked with Penny Harvest and were able to save 500 pennies. Students used those pennies to fund the purchase of the canoe.
School officials say they are going to continue saving pennies so they can donate additional chairs to parks around the city.
