Marine Park teacher arraigned on statutory rape charges

A Marine Park teacher was arraigned today on charges that she had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Erin Sayer, an English teacher at James Madison High School, was officially charged with eight counts of statutory rape, eight counts of criminal sex act and numerous other charges. She's accused of having sex with one of her students nearly a dozen times and giving him marijuana.
Sayer posted $100,000 bond and was released from jail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 4. The student's family is now suing the Department of Education for $10 million.
