Con Ed reaches new electric peak, reduces voltage
Con Edison reached a new electric peak Wednesday afternoon, surpassing Tuesday night's previous high for the year.
The company says it has reduced voltage for several neighborhoods in Brooklyn in an effort to remain reliable during a worker lockout that has lasted for more than two weeks.
About 5,000 managers have been doing the work of about 8,500 employees during the contract dispute and summer heat waves.
