Trial date set for Hasidic man accused of abusing young girl
? A judge set a trial date of Oct. 20 for Nechemya Weberman, who is accused of abusing a young girl.
Prosecutors say Weberman abused his victim for years. They say the girl was afraid to come forward because of intimidation within their tight-knit ultra-Orthodox Jewish community.
Just last month, a group of men were charged with bribery and intimidation for allegedly trying to stall the sexual abuse case.
Back in May, members of the Hasidic community turned out for a fundraiser in Weberman's defense. Some supporters of the alleged victim protested the fundraiser.4 men accused of bribery, intimidation in sex abuse caseSex abuse case against BK spiritual advisor heading to trial Clinton Hill rabbi accused of raping young girl
