Friends and family gathered in East Flatbush for a memorial to remember the teen who lost his life last summer to gun violence.
Dequan Mercurius was shot to death at a local playground a year ago. Neighbors say about 60 kids were hanging out at the P.S. 119 schoolyard when chaos broke out. Officials say someone walked up and fired shots, hitting a 13-year-old boy in the backside.
When the shots broke out, 15-year-old Mercurius ran up the street to get away. The suspect chased after him, firing the fatal shot.
Police say they still haven't made any arrests in Mercurius' murder.
