After more than three decades, one resident in Red Hook became fed up with a vacant and overgrown lot owned by the city, so he decided to do something about it.
Luis Formisano says he single-handedly cleaned up the lot and bought tables, chairs and umbrellas to create a park for residents to relax at.
However, some residents say there should have been a community discussion about what to do with the lot before it became a park at the hands of Formisano.
State Sen. Daniel Squadron (D-Greenpoint) says he is working the city department that owns the lot to find a solution and maintain the community space.
