The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking at a measure to reduce speeding along a popular BQE detour.

The DOT is looking at reducing a lane on Hicks Street and adding parking spaces. The street is commonly used by drivers to detour around the BQE's trench section.

Some residents are for the plan saying it would help reduce speeding, but others are concerned that removing a lane would create a traffic nightmare.The DOT says that if the plan is adopted, it will not be implemented this year.
