Oldest documented person in NY turns 113
The oldest documented person living in New York celebrated her recent 113th birthday today.Susie Muschatt, who hails from Brooklyn, turned 113 years old on July 6. Today, the Vandalia Senior Center and Susie's family hosted a birthday celebration in her honor. The party included a musical performance by the Roy H. Mann Drama Team.Miss Susie was born in Alabama in 1899 during the segregated south. She was never able to attend college to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. Although she never had children of her own, she has more than 100 nieces and nephews on whom she loves to dote.The secret to Miss Susie's long life is never drinking or smoking, family says.
