Brooklyn events to slow weekend travel
Thousands of people will head to Brooklyn this weekend, likely slowing down traffic in some areas.
Brooklyn's own Jay-Z will be performing at the Barclays Center all weekend, creating heavy traffic where Atlantic and Flatbush avenues meet. Commuters should use mass transit and take advantage of the new entrance at the Atlantic Terminal. The Long Island Rail Road will also provide extra service.
On Sunday, concert goers will be replaced by runners for the 11th Annual Tunnel to Towers event. The run/walk will shut down streets near the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Weekend track work is also scheduled on subway lines throughout the borough. Riders should allow extra time and double check schedules.
