Tenants who live at the Eleanor Roosevelt Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant are calling on the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to address a long list of building problems. Senior citizens who live in the buildings took to the streets yesterday to complain about leaky faucets and major flooding problems. The tenants say NYCHA places them on a waiting list whenever they complain, and that it has taken up to two years for their complaints to be addressed. One senior citizen tenant says she hasn't been able to use the stove in her unit for more than a year. NYCHA tells News 12 Brooklyn that it recently completed roof and brick repairs at the Roosevelt Houses to address water penetration issues. More work is scheduled for other buildings, and stoves and refrigerators will be replaced as needed, NYCHA says.
