A police officer in The Bronx is recovering in the hospital after being shot while trying to stop a robbery.
According to authorities, 27-year-old Ivan Marcano was off-duty when he witnessed three men allegedly trying to steal from a 65-year-old man Wednesday. They say the transit officer was shot in the chest after identifying himself.
The suspects took off in a white Mustang, but crashed into a livery cab. Officials say that Marcano caught up to the men and opened fire, killing one of the men with a shot to the head.
The other two suspects got away on foot.
