Cops: Thieves lure teens to BK subway station using Facebook
Police are looking for a group of thieves who they say are using Facebook to lure teenage victims to a Brooklyn subway station.
According to investigators, four men are contacting young people selling items on the social media site. They say the suspects then set up a meeting on the J line stop inside the Cypress Hill station at Jamaica and Autumn avenues.
Police say that on two occasions within the past month, the victims showed up to sell their phone or sneakers, but were robbed instead.
Authorities say anyone planning to sell items online should meet in a public place, always bring someone with them, and carry a cell phone in case of emergencies.
The suspects are believed to be between 16 and 20 years old. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
