Man critical after Brownsville building fire
Authorities say a man is in critical condition after flames broke out at a building in Brownsville overnight.
Investigators say the fire started at around 1 a.m. in a two-story building on East 98th Street. The flames sparked in a first-floor kitchen and quickly spread to the second floor, where 55-year-old resident Shelley Kinley was found. He was in cardiac arrest and was taken to Brookdale Hospital.Tenants say six people live in the building, but not everyone was home at the time. One resident said she lost everything when the fire tore through her apartment.The Red Cross says it is providing housing, food and clothing for four people.
