NYPD: Rise in the number of Apple product thefts
The NYPD says crime rates in the city would be down if it weren't for the increasing thefts of Apple products.
According to New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, there has been a huge jump in Apple electronic thefts since last year.
On Sunday, a Brooklyn man was stabbed and robbed of his iPhone on the F train near the Avenue I station. Police say no arrests have been made yet.
Aside from being more aware of your surroundings, police say residents can bring their iPhone to their local police station and register it for free to get a unique serial number in case it gets stolen.
