Parents: P.S. 185 a parking nightmare during busy hours
Officials say P.S. 185 is drowning in parking problems after parents resorted to double-parking when picking up and dropping off children.
Parents say it is hard to find a parking spot around the school during the busy morning and afternoon hours, forcing them to double-park. Many say that traffic enforcement agents have taken advantage of the parking problems by writing numerous tickets for just a few minutes of double-parking.
NYPD sources tell News 12 Brooklyn that parents are creating an unsafe environment for children when double-parking.
Councilman Vicent Gentile is pushing for a bill that would allow parents to double-park at borough schools for a short period of time. The bill is up for a vote in the transportation committee but has been stalled for two years.
