Brooklyn says goodbye to popular Dekalb Market
Local shoppers and vendors said a final goodbye on Sunday to the popular Dekalb Market.
The venue had opened for the second year this past spring and was supposed to run through December, but the landlord decided to use the Downtown Brooklyn space for a new commercial and residential center instead.
The unique market used more than 60 recycled shipping containers to house local food shops and boutiques. Residents say they are extremely sad to see the market go. Some business owners also said the market was their only location and they don't know where they'll go next.
Organizers say they'll try to find a new permanent home and reopen the market again next spring.
