An elderly woman has died after an early morning two-alarm fire in Crown Heights.
Flames broke out at 587 Franklin Ave., near Pacific Avenue at around 4:30 a.m., according to fire authorities.
Fire officials and the NYPD arson investigators are investigating the cause of the fire but a deputy fire chief believes the blaze started inside a recently renovated bodega on the ground floor.
Tenants were evacuated from upper floors in two buildings surrounding the store. The elderly victim was rushed to Interfaith Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Three firefighters were injured. Two were sent to the hospital and one was treated at the scene.
